The FreeGo is Yamaha’s answer to buyers who find the Janus too small and the Grande too style-first: a mid-priced automatic scooter with sporty lines and genuinely useful storage. All figures below are from Yamaha Vietnam’s official FreeGo product page (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engine and performance
A Blue Core 124.9 cc single-cylinder, two-valve, SOHC engine with forced-air cooling and CVT. Official figures: maximum power 7.0 kW at 8,000 rpm, maximum torque 9.0 Nm at 5,500 rpm, published fuel consumption 2.03 litres/100 km from a modest 3.9-litre tank - the tank to plan fuel stops around on longer rides. Engine oil capacity is listed at 0.84 litres at oil change.
Size and handling
Wet weight 100 kg, seat height 780 mm, dimensions 1,915 x 685 x 1,110 mm, wheelbase 1,280 mm, ground clearance 135 mm. The underseat bay holds 25 litres, and the tyre sizes are 100/90-12 front and 110/90-12 rear, both tubeless - mid-size wheels that balance agility and stability (see our tyre sizes explainer).
Equipment
Front disc and rear drum brakes, LED headlight, smart key on current versions, a phone charging port, and a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty. An ABS-equipped FreeGo S version is also offered - see which scooters have ABS in Vietnam.
Who it suits
