The FreeGo and the Vario 125 are the two most useful mid-price 125s in Vietnam precisely because both keep a flat floor: you can put a box, a bag of groceries or a small crate between your feet. Figures below are from Yamaha Vietnam and Honda Vietnam official pages (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engine
The FreeGo’s Blue Core 124.9 cc air-cooled single makes 7.0 kW at 8,000 rpm and 9.0 Nm at 5,500 rpm, with published consumption of 2.03 litres/100 km from a small 3.9-litre tank. The Vario’s liquid-cooled eSP makes 8.48 kW at 8,500 rpm and 11.9 Nm at 5,000 rpm, at 2.11 litres/100 km from 5.5 litres, with idling stop. The Vario is the stronger and more sophisticated engine; the FreeGo keeps its purchase price low.
Storage and equipment
FreeGo: 25-litre underseat bay, smart key, LED headlight, charging port, disc/drum brakes with an ABS S version offered. Vario 125: 18-litre bay, smart key, LCD panel, USB-C, full LED, front disc with CBS. The FreeGo carries more; the Vario has the more modern electronics suite. Our CBS explainer covers what combined braking actually does.
Weight and seat
FreeGo: 100 kg wet, 780 mm seat. Vario: 111 kg, 769 mm seat. Taller riders sit higher on the FreeGo; shorter riders will find the Vario’s lower seat easier - see our short-riders guide.
Price
FreeGo lists from about 30,340,000 VND; the Vario 125 lists at 41,913,818 VND. The Vario charges for liquid cooling, idling stop and stronger output; the FreeGo is the value flat-floor pick.
