Comparing two underbones should be a five-minute exercise in arithmetic, not an afternoon of forum scrolling. This checklist ranks the seven verified fields that decide a purchase, in the order that matters for Vietnamese riding (all example figures retrieved from manufacturer pages, 23 September 2026).

The checklist, in order

  1. Weight. The single most lived-with number. Verified range: 96 kg (Wave Alpha) to 139 kg (CBR150R). Lighter wins for parking, pushing and low-speed balance.
  2. Torque and its rpm. The off-the-line number. Compare Nm figures, but always check the rpm: 10.9 Nm at 4,750 rpm (CT125) serves traffic; 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm (Exciter) serves sport riding.
  3. Claimed economy. Long-term cost of ownership. Verified range: 1.47 L/100 km (Future 125 FI) to 2.91 L/100 km (CBR150R) - and remember real-world figures vary with speed, load and conditions.
  4. Transmission. Rotary four-speed (all semi-automatics) or manual clutch (Winner R, Exciter, CBR150R). This is a skills question before it is a money question.
  5. Seat height. Confidence at every stop: 756-800 mm verified; taller riders should read our tall riders guide before rejecting a bike.
  6. Tank times economy. Range between fills - multiply the two figures.
  7. List price. Last, deliberately: it is a dated manufacturer figure, not the on-the-road cost, and the field above it usually explains it.

How to run the comparison

Put both bikes’ numbers in a two-column table - exactly like every comparison on this site. If a field is missing from the manufacturer’s page, leave it missing: a blank cell is more honest than a forum estimate. If after seven rows you cannot decide, the bikes are equivalent - buy the cheaper or lighter one.

The test that beats all spreadsheets

Numbers narrow the field; a ride decides. Our price-published daily classes are the Honda Wave and Yamaha Sirius at 150,000 VND per day - the cheapest way to live with the national default before buying.
