A first motorbike should be light, low, cheap to drop and impossible to stall. Vietnam’s underbones are the world’s best beginner bikes on exactly those criteria - and the manufacturers’ own pages (retrieved 23 September 2026) let us rank them objectively.

What matters for a beginner

Three verified numbers predict beginner happiness, in this order: kerb weight (every push, footplant and pickup), seat height (confidence at stops), and transmission (rotary semi-automatic means no clutch lever and no stalling).

The verified beginner ranking

Model Weight Seat height Gearbox List price
Honda Wave Alpha 110 96 kg 770 mm 4-speed rotary 18,841,091 VND
Honda Blade 98-99 kg 769 mm 4-speed rotary 21,943,637 VND
Honda Wave RSX 98 kg 760 mm 4-speed rotary 25,664,727 VND
Yamaha Sirius RC 110 100 kg wet not published 4-speed rotary 21,993,000 VND
Honda Future 125 FI 104 kg 756 mm 4-speed rotary from 30,622,909 VND

Real-world fuel economy varies with conditions; for beginners the relevant figures are above.

Why the top three win

The Wave Alpha is the lightest verified bike on the market at 96 kg and the cheapest Honda - the classic learn-and-live-with-it choice. The Wave RSX adds injection and a lower 760 mm seat for a little more money. The Future 125 FI has the lowest seat of the whole verified range at 756 mm, plus the best claimed economy (1.47 L/100 km) - the premium beginner option.

What to avoid first

Every manual-clutch machine - Winner R, Exciter 155, CBR150R - adds a skill to learn in traffic. The CT125’s 800 mm seat and 117 kg ask for confidence before experience. None are bad bikes; all are second bikes.

Licence first
