The Super Cub C125 and the Exciter 155 VVA are the two most photographed underbones in Vietnam - for opposite reasons. One is a stainless-steel heritage piece you shift without a clutch; the other is Yamaha’s best-selling sport underbone with a manual clutch and six speeds. Manufacturer specifications below (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engines and gearboxes
Super Cub: 123.9 cc, air-cooled, 6.87 kW at 7,500 rpm, 10.15 Nm at 5,000 rpm, four-speed semi-automatic. Exciter 155 VVA: 155 cc, liquid-cooled four-valve with VVA and EFI, 13.2 kW at 9,500 rpm, 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm, six-speed manual with Assist and Slipper clutch. Nearly double the power - but also a gearbox that requires clutch skill. New riders should read our semi-automatic gearbox explainer before choosing the Exciter.
Weight and brakes
Cub: 109 kg. Exciter: 123 kg wet, front and rear discs (ABS on limited versions), tubeless tyres. The Cub is the lighter, simpler, easier machine; the Exciter is the tool for riders who want revs.
Economy
Cub: 1.55 L/100 km, 3.7-litre tank. Exciter: 2.07 L/100 km, 5.4-litre tank. Manufacturer figures under standard test conditions.
Price and reality
Cub: 88,353,813 VND. Exciter: 55,200,000 VND (limited ABS Monster version shown). Neither is price-published in our rental fleet - contact us to confirm current availability. The honest rule: if you cannot yet ride a clutch confidently in Hanoi traffic, the Cub format is the correct choice; the Exciter is a reward for skill.
