The CT125 and Exciter 155 VVA are the two most distinctive manual-gearbox underbones on the Vietnamese market - one styled for trails, one for the street. All figures below are manufacturer-published (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engines
CT125: 123.9 cc, air-cooled single, 6.76 kW at 6,250 rpm, 10.9 Nm at 4,750 rpm, four-speed. Exciter 155 VVA: 155 cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC four-valve with VVA variable valve timing and EFI, 13.2 kW at 9,500 rpm, 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm, six-speed with an Assist and Slipper clutch. The Exciter is dramatically faster; the CT is dramatically more relaxed. Yamaha’s VVA explainer covers what the variable-valve system does.
Chassis and terrain
CT125: 165 mm ground clearance, 800 mm seat, 117 kg, 80/90-17 tyres both ends, 5.4-litre tank. Exciter: 123 kg wet, tubeless 90/80-17 front and 120/70-17 rear, 5.4-litre tank, seat height not published on Yamaha’s page. On broken rural roads the CT’s clearance and simple air-cooled engine are assets; in the city the Exciter’s disc brakes both ends (ABS on limited versions) and light clutch are the advantage.
Economy
CT125: 1.61 L/100 km. Exciter: 2.07 L/100 km. Manufacturer test figures - real riding varies.
Price and availability
CT125: 85,997,455 VND list. Exciter 155: 55,200,000 VND for the limited ABS Monster version shown on Yamaha’s page.
