Vietnam’s two manual-clutch sport underbones, head to head on manufacturer-published figures only (Honda Vietnam and Yamaha Vietnam pages, retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engines
Exciter 155 VVA: 155 cc liquid-cooled four-valve SOHC with VVA and fuel injection - 13.2 kW (17.9 PS) at 9,500 rpm, 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Winner R: 149.2 cc liquid-cooled single - 11.5 kW at 9,000 rpm, 13.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The Exciter is clearly the stronger engine, and Yamaha publishes the same 14.4 Nm peak torque as Honda’s much larger CBR150R.
Gearbox and clutch
Exciter: six-speed with an Assist and Slipper clutch - lighter lever effort in traffic, and the slipper function prevents rear-wheel hop on hard downshifts. Winner R: Honda’s sport underbone layout with no published slipper clutch. Both are electric start.
Economy, weight and brakes
Exciter: 2.07 L/100 km, 5.4 L tank, 123 kg wet, two-piston front disc plus rear disc, tubeless 90/80-17 and 120/70-17 tyres, ABS on the limited ABS versions. Winner: 2.59 L/100 km (UDC method) from 4.5 L, 124 kg, wider stance on a 1,277 mm wheelbase, 90/80-17 and 120/70-17 tyres.
Price
Winner R: 46,360,000 VND. Exciter 155 VVA: from 55,200,000 VND for the limited ABS version shown on the retrieved page (both list prices, retrieved 23 September 2026; other Exciter versions differ).
Verdict
Exciter for performance, the six-speed box, the slipper clutch and ABS availability; Winner R for value at roughly 9 million VND less. Both sit in the A1 licence bracket - our licence guide covers what that means. Contact us to confirm current availability.
