The Winner R is Honda Vietnam’s sport underbone - what locals call a xe côn tay, a manual-clutch bike with the race-replica styling of a bigger machine. It is the direct rival to Yamaha’s Exciter, and one of the cheapest ways into clutch-and-gearbox riding in Vietnam. All figures below come from the official Honda Vietnam Winner R product page (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Engine and performance
The 149.2 cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine (Honda KC46E) is liquid-cooled - unusual in this class - producing 11.5 kW at 9,000 rpm and 13.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. That is nearly double the power of a commuter 110. Honda publishes fuel consumption of 2.59 litres per 100 km, measured by the UDC method, from a 4.5-litre tank; Honda notes the measurement method changed from earlier model years, while real-world consumption is similar. Compression is 11.3:1 with 57.3 x 57.8 mm bore and stroke.
Chassis
Kerb weight is 124 kg, the seat sits at 795 mm, and ground clearance is 153 mm. The body is 2,013 x 725 x 1,075 mm on a 1,277 mm wheelbase - long, low and stable. Wheels are 17-inch with noticeably wider rubber than a commuter: 90/80-17 front, 120/70-17 rear. Starting is electric. The rear shock is a single unit.
Licence and riding notes
Every bike in this guide sits under 175 cc, the A1 licence bracket - our A1 guide covers exactly what you can ride. Riding a clutch bike for the first time is a different skill from a semi-automatic; our clutch care articles cover the basics, and this hub’s manual-clutch cluster covers riding technique. A Winner will cruise happily at highway speeds for Hanoi day trips.
Price and rivals
Honda lists the Winner R at 46,360,000 VND (retrieved 23 September 2026; prices change). Its natural rival is the Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA - reviewed separately, with more power and a bigger tank. Contact us to confirm current availability for rental.
