This is Honda’s most economical 125 against Yamaha’s most popular manual-clutch 155. One optimises every litre of fuel; the other optimises every throttle opening. Honda Vietnam and Yamaha Vietnam publish complete specs for both (retrieved 23 September 2026).
The core difference
The Future 125 FI is a 124.9 cc air-cooled semi-automatic: 6.83 kW at 7,500 rpm, four-speed rotary gearbox, no clutch lever. The Exciter 155 VVA is a 155 cc liquid-cooled four-valve engine with VVA variable valve timing, 13.2 kW at 9,500 rpm, a six-speed gearbox and a manual Assist and Slipper clutch.

What it means on the road
On numbers alone the Future is the rational choice: nearly half the purchase price, about 30 percent better claimed economy, 19 kg lighter, and a clutch-free ride that never tires in traffic. Its 1.47 L/100 km claim is the best of the ten verified underbones.
The Exciter counters with nearly double the power, six gears, front and rear disc brakes with ABS on limited versions, and tubeless tyres. Its VVA head and four-valve layout mean it pulls cleanly from low revs and keeps building to 9,500 rpm - the classic do-everything sport underbone.
Which one for you?
Riders who commute daily and count dong per kilometre belong on the Future. Riders whose hobby is the ride itself, who want a clutch and plan weekend distances, get far more machine for the money in the Exciter - Yamaha’s claimed 2.07 L/100 km is remarkably frugal for 13.2 kW.
