The Yamaha NVX 155 is the sportiest mainstream automatic scooter sold in Vietnam, and unlike some style-led machines it backs the look up with hardware: a 155 cc Blue Core engine with variable valve timing, front ABS and phone connectivity. All figures below come from the official Yamaha Motor Vietnam NVX 155 VVA ABS product page (retrieved 23 September 2026); anything Yamaha does not publish is omitted rather than estimated.
Engine and performance
The NVX runs a 155.1 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled Blue Core engine with four valves, SOHC layout and VVA - Yamaha’s continuously variable valve timing, which spreads usable power across the rev range instead of concentrating it at the top. Honda lists the class rival Vario 160 slightly ahead on paper; we compare the two directly elsewhere. Yamaha publishes maximum power at 11.3 kW (15.4 PS) at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque at 13.9 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Size, weight and comfort
Yamaha publishes a wet weight of 125 kg, seat height 790 mm, dimensions 1,980 x 700 x 1,150 mm, wheelbase 1,350 mm and ground clearance 145 mm. The seat is split into two levels for rider and pillion. The 5.5-litre tank is quoted by Yamaha as good for up to 200 km per fill; real-world range varies with speed, load and conditions.
Brakes and chassis
A 230 mm front disc with ABS, a 130 mm rear drum, telescopic front fork and a rear shock with a hydraulic damper. Wide rubber - 110/80-14 front and a beefy 140/70-14 rear - gives it the planted look and feel of a much larger machine. What ABS does and does not do is covered in our ABS guide.
Technology
The NVX is the connectivity flagship of Yamaha’s range: an LCD panel links to the Y-Connect phone app (call and message alerts, fuel-consumption tracking, maintenance recommendations, parking location), there is a smart key, a Stop and Start System that shuts the engine at stops, a phone-charging port inside the front box and 25 litres of underseat storage.
Who it suits
Riders who want the most aggressive mainstream scooter available, ride aggressively but legally, and value tech features. Yamaha’s list prices at retrieval time: 55,300,000 VND for the NVX 155 VVA ABS colour-update version, 56,500,000 VND for the 2025 standard version, with the sport SP and GP versions at 68,000,000 and 69,000,000 VND.

What to check before you ride one
Tyre wear on that wide rear, brake feel, and the ABS warning lamp sequence at start-up. Then work through our rental motorbike inspection checklist.
