The Lexi and the NMAX share an engine and a price bracket but not a personality: the Lexi is the comfort commuter with 14-inch wheels, the NMAX is the MAX-series flagship with dual ABS. Both publish identical headline figures - 11.3 kW, 14.2 Nm from the 155.1 cc Blue Core VVA - so this comparison is about everything else. All figures from Yamaha Vietnam’s official pages (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Brakes - the decisive gap
NMAX: ABS on both wheels plus traction control. Lexi: front ABS with a rear drum. It is the single biggest difference between the two, and the reason the NMAX costs what it costs. Our TCS vs ABS explainer covers what you give up.
Wheels and stability
Lexi: 90/90-14 front and 100/90-14 rear - the biggest wheels of Yamaha’s 155 trio, giving it a calm, planted ride on imperfect roads. NMAX: 110/70-13 and 130/70-13 - sportier, more agile. For commuters crossing bridges and ring roads daily, the Lexi’s geometry (1,353 mm wheelbase, the longest here) is genuinely reassuring; our wheelbase explainer has the numbers.
Weight and comfort
Lexi: 118 kg, 768 mm seat - the lowest of the 155 class. NMAX: 131 kg, 770 mm. The Lexi is 13 kg lighter with an easier seat, which matters at every stoplight.
Range and economy
Lexi: 2.19 L/100 km but only a 4.2-litre tank - the smallest in the class, so plan fuel stops on longer rides. NMAX: 2.26 L/100 km with a 7.1-litre tank and 24 litres of storage. Around town the Lexi’s economy wins; touring, the NMAX’s range wins.
Price
Yamaha listed the Lexi 155 VVA-ABS from 48,500,000 VND (premium version 48,900,000 VND) against the NMAX from 69,000,000 VND. The NMAX’s premium buys the second ABS channel, traction control and the flagship body.
Verdict
Lexi for daily commuting comfort at a mid-premium price; NMAX for the full safety-hardware package. Neither is a price-published rental model - contact us to confirm current availability - and whichever you ride, start with our rental inspection checklist.
