The Wave Alpha and the Future 125 FI are two ends of Honda Vietnam’s semi-automatic range: the country’s cheapest new motorbike and its long-legged 125-class underbone. Honda publishes the full specification for both (retrieved 23 September 2026), so the trade-offs are easy to see.
Engines
Wave Alpha: 109.2 cc, air-cooled, 6.12 kW at 7,500 rpm, 8.44 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Future 125 FI: 124.9 cc, air-cooled, 6.83 kW at 7,500 rpm and a much stronger 10.2 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Both use a four-speed rotary gearbox with no clutch lever, both offer kick and electric start. The Future’s extra 1.76 Nm of torque is what you feel pulling away with a passenger or climbing a ramp.
Economy and range
The Future is Honda’s thriftiest listed underbone at 1.47 L/100 km against the Alpha’s 1.72 L/100 km, and its 4.6-litre tank is the largest of any 110/125-class Wave or Blade. Manufacturer figures apply to standard test conditions; real-world economy varies with traffic, load and riding style.
Size and comfort
Future 125: 1,931 mm long, 756 mm seat, 104 kg. Wave Alpha: 1,913 mm, 770 mm seat, 96 kg. The Future’s lower seat and longer wheelbase (1,258 vs 1,224 mm) suit taller riders and two-up travel; the Alpha’s 8 kg weight advantage shows up when pushing the bike into tight parking.
Price and rental
List prices run from 18,841,091 VND (Alpha) to from 30,622,909 VND (Future, three versions). At our rental counter the Wave class is price-published at 150,000 VND per day; for the Future 125 contact us to confirm current availability. If you are stepping up from an Alpha, our Future versus Wave RSX comparison covers the mid-point option as well.
