Below 155 cc, speed is really a power-to-weight question. Yamaha and Honda publish both numbers for every current model (retrieved 23 September 2026) - so the ranking below is the manufacturers’ own arithmetic, no estimates.
The verified power ladder
| Rank | Model | Max power | Kerb weight | Power per 100 kg |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA | 13.2 kW @ 9,500 rpm | 123 kg wet | ~10.7 kW |
| 2 | Honda CBR150R | 12.6 kW @ 9,000 rpm | 139 kg | ~9.1 kW |
| 3 | Honda Winner R | 11.5 kW @ 9,000 rpm | 124 kg | ~9.3 kW |
| 4 | Honda Super Cub C125 | 6.87 kW @ 7,500 rpm | 109 kg | ~6.3 kW |
| 5 | Honda Future 125 FI | 6.83 kW @ 7,500 rpm | 104 kg | ~6.6 kW |
| 6 | Honda CT125 | 6.76 kW @ 6,250 rpm | 117 kg | ~5.8 kW |
| 7 | Honda Wave RSX | 6.46 kW @ 7,500 rpm | 98 kg | ~6.6 kW |
The Exciter 155 VVA tops the class on both absolute power and power-to-weight, helped by its four-valve, VVA, liquid-cooled head. The Winner R actually edges the CBR150R on power-to-weight; the CBR counters with fairing and the 12-litre tank for high-speed touring.
What power figures do and do not say
Peak power arrives at high revs (9,000-9,500 rpm on all three sport models). None of these bikes will feel fast below half throttle - that is what the manual clutch and gearing are for. Claimed fuel economy tells the other story: the Exciter’s 2.07 L/100 km is the best of the three sport bikes.
The legal footnote
More speed, more licence responsibility - check what the A1 licence covers before you buy. And remember real-world economy and performance vary with load, speed and conditions.
