Seat height decides whether a scooter works for you in stop-and-go Vietnamese traffic: at every red light you put a foot down, sometimes both. This guide ranks the scooters we have verified manufacturer seat-height figures for, from the official Honda and Yamaha Vietnam model pages recorded in our model database (retrieved 23 September 2026). Nothing is estimated - if a manufacturer does not publish the figure, the model is not listed.

What these numbers mean in practice

Seat height is only half the story - the other half is seat width and bike weight. A 760 mm seat on the 114 kg Lead can feel taller than a 750 mm seat on the 96 kg Gear 125, because a narrow saddle lets your legs go straight down. That is why our lightweight-scooters guide pairs with this one: for most shorter riders, low seat PLUS low weight is the winning combination (Gear 125, Latte 125, Janus 125).

Best picks by priority

  • Easiest overall for shorter riders: Yamaha Gear 125 Hybrid (750 mm, 96 kg) and Honda Lead 125 (760 mm).
  • Premium on a budget of confidence: Honda SH Mode 125 (765 mm) and Yamaha Lexi 155 (768 mm).
  • If you also carry cargo: the Lead’s 37-litre bay comes with the lowest seat in the table.

Caution on the tall ones

The NVX 155 and Latte 125 both sit at 790 mm. Both are light (125 kg and 100 kg), but if you are under about 160 cm, sit on one before committing - our article on balancing a bike at stops and the beginner-friendly motorbikes guide cover the techniques that make taller seats manageable.

Renting as a shorter rider

Rental fleets favour low, light scooters for exactly this reason. Nguyen Tu’s price-published models include the Honda Vision (200,000 VND/day) - note its 785 mm seat is mid-pack despite the small engine. Contact us to confirm current availability, and always test the stand-over before you ride off, with our rental inspection checklist as the final check.
