Yamaha sells two style-first city scooters in Vietnam: the rounder, retro-flavoured Grande and the newer Latte. They overlap on paper - both around 100 kg, both smart-keyed, both aimed at style-conscious city riders - but they differ in the details that matter. Facts below come from Yamaha Vietnam’s official product pages (retrieved 23 September 2026).

Engines

The Latte uses a 124.9 cc air-cooled Blue Core engine with published figures: 6.05 kW at 6,500 rpm, 9.77 Nm at 5,000 rpm, and a standout 1.80 litres/100 km published consumption from a 5.0-litre tank. The Grande uses a Blue Core Hybrid engine; Yamaha’s current product page does not publish its power, torque or capacity figures, so we leave them out rather than estimate - the hybrid system gives the engine a small electric assist when pulling away, and both engines are economy-first designs.

Weight and dimensions

Latte: 100 kg wet weight, 790 mm seat, 1,821 x 684 x 1,158 mm, 125 mm ground clearance, 12/10-inch wheels. Grande: 100 kg wet weight, dimensions 1,820 x 684 x 1,155 mm, 127 mm ground clearance, 12-inch wheels (110/70-12). On paper nearly identical twins in size - the differences are all in equipment and character.

Storage

This is the sharpest difference. The Latte offers 37 litres with a flat floor - A4 folders and a 13-inch laptop, the biggest bay in Yamaha’s city range. The Grande offers 27 litres, still generous and fitted with an interior light. If the scooter is your daily office commute, the Latte’s bay is a genuine advantage - see the storage comparison.

Features

Both have smart keys and phone charging; the Grande adds Y-Connect app connectivity and LED front lighting, while the Latte keeps halogen lighting and adds an external fuel cap. Both use a front disc and rear drum; neither offers ABS in the ranges reviewed here - see which scooters have ABS in Vietnam.

Price

Yamaha lists the Grande from 46,244,000 VND and the Latte at 39,077,000 VND for the 2025 limited colour version - a gap of about 7 million VND, with the cheaper Latte carrying the bigger storage bay and the better published economy figure.

Verdict

Choose the Latte for storage, economy and the lower price. Choose the Grande for the hybrid assist, Y-Connect and the more established design. Neither is a Nguyen Tu price-published rental model - contact us to confirm current availability.
