Two scooters own the storage crown in Vietnam: Honda’s Lead, the long-time cargo king, and Yamaha’s Latte, the style-led challenger. Both publish 37-litre underseat bays - the largest in our verified data - so the choice comes down to weight, character and price. All figures from official Honda and Yamaha Vietnam pages (retrieved 23 September 2026).

Storage - a genuine tie

Lead: 37 litres, two full-face helmets. Latte: 37 litres on a flat floor, described by Yamaha as fitting two full-face helmets. Nothing separates them here - our storage ranking has the full table.

Engine and economy

Lead: 124.8 cc liquid-cooled, 8.22 kW at 8,500 rpm, 11.7 Nm at 5,250 rpm, 2.1 L/100 km from a 6.0-litre tank. Latte: 124.9 cc Blue Core, 6.05 kW at 6,500 rpm, 9.77 Nm at 5,000 rpm, 1.80 L/100 km from a 5.0-litre tank. The Lead is the stronger engine; the Latte is the more economical one (second-best figure in our verified economy table).

Weight and handling

Latte: 100 kg - one of the lightest 125s sold, and 14 kg lighter than the Lead’s 114 kg. In daily Hanoi use the Latte is noticeably easier to paddle, park and thread through the Old Quarter. The Lead counters with a lower seat: 760 mm versus the Latte’s 790 mm - a real difference for shorter riders (see our seat-height table).

Equipment

Latte: SmartKey, USB port, flat floor, 3-year/30,000 km warranty. Lead: ABS version available, analogue-plus-digital meter, big tank. Cross-brand feature shopping is covered in our Honda vs Yamaha guide.

Price

Yamaha listed the Latte from 38,291,000 VND (2025 colour version); the Lead family sits in the same mid bracket. Check our verified price table for the current published figures.

Verdict

Latte for weight, economy and style; Lead for the lower seat, the bigger tank and the ABS option. Renters: neither is price-published at Nguyen Tu - contact us to confirm current availability - and both deserve the pre-ride checks in our safety checklist.
