Vietnamese scooter model names come with version suffixes - The thao (Sport), Dac biet (Special), Cao cap (Premium), S, GP - and the differences are not cosmetic: they can include the difference between having ABS and not. Here is what the verified manufacturer pages show (retrieved 23 September 2026).
Verified equipment-by-version examples
- Honda SH Mode 125: front ABS is fitted on the The thao (Sport), Dac biet (Special) and Cao cap (Premium) versions - meaning the entry version does without it. Buying “an SH Mode” is not the same as buying an ABS one.
- Honda SH160i: dual ABS plus HSTC applies to its Sport, Special and Premium versions.
- Yamaha NVX 155: the VVA ABS version lists at 55,300,000 VND, the SP at 68,000,000 VND and GP at 69,000,000 VND - a 14-million-dong spread inside one model, largely trim and colour.
- Yamaha Gear 125 Hybrid: standard lists from 30,437,000 VND and the premium version at 34,364,000 VND.
- Yamaha Lexi 155: versions list from 48,500,000 VND with the VVA-ABS premium version at 48,900,000 VND.
- Honda Vario 160: the The thao version lists at 56,690,000 VND.
- Yamaha FreeGo 125: an ABS-equipped FreeGo S version is offered alongside the standard bike.
What versions typically change
Verified differences include ABS presence, display type (TFT versus LCD - our displays guide), colours and special editions. What they rarely change: the engine, frame and core dimensions - a Sport NVX publishes the same 11.3 kW as the GP.
Practical buying advice
Decide the equipment floor first - for most riders, whether the version has ABS - then compare version prices against it. Our verified price guide lists model-level pricing, and our ABS guide lists which versions carry it. Renters: version matters too - confirm the version you will receive, not just the model.
