Choosing the rental period is arithmetic, not taste. The published Hanoi rates make the break-even points easy to see.

How the periods price out

Published daily rates for common models run 150,000-200,000 VND. Published weekly rates sit well below seven daily rates: the Honda Click and Yamaha Mio at 600,000-700,000 VND per week, the Honda Vision at 800,000-1,000,000 VND, the Honda Air Blade at 800,000 VND. Published monthly rates: 1,000,000-1,200,000 VND for the Click and Mio, 1,400,000 VND for the Air Blade, 1,800,000-2,000,000 VND for the Vision. Some models - the Honda Wave, Yamaha Sirius and the e-bike - publish day rates only, with longer periods arranged by contacting the shop.

The decision rule

  • 1-4 days: rent daily. No weekly discount applies until the weekly rate beats the dailies.
  • 5-10 days: ask for the weekly rate. On a Click at 150,000/day, five days costs 750,000 - already above the 600,000-700,000 weekly band. The weekly rate wins from about day five on every model that publishes one.
  • Two weeks to a month: monthly rates take over the same way - the Vision monthly rate is cheaper than four weekly rentals.

The general rule: the longer the published period, the lower the effective daily cost. Shops price weekly and monthly rates to reward commitment.

What the period choice changes beyond price

Longer rentals usually mean one deposit for the whole stay instead of repeated handovers, and your riding position, mirrors and lock routine stay familiar - a real safety factor in Hanoi traffic. Monthly renters typically handle day-to-day basics themselves, with the shop’s maintenance (oil, chain, tyre pressure, inspection) scheduled rather than on-demand.

Longer than a month

Longer-term rental is negotiable - contact us to discuss longer-term rental directly rather than stacking month after month at the listed rate.

The one mistake to avoid

Renting daily “just in case” for three weeks. The arithmetic punishes it, and the deposit-hold repeats weekly. Decide your period from your actual dates, then book it - the booking article covers how.
