What the price buys and what it does not is the question that prevents surprises. Here is the standard Hanoi package, honestly split.

Included

  • The bike, for the period you paid for.
  • Registration certificate and the vehicle’s compulsory third-party insurance - these ride with the bike. Ask to see both at handover.
  • Helmets for rider and passenger at most Hanoi shops - helmet provision is covered in its own article, but assume helmets come with the rental and confirm when booking.
  • The owner’s basic maintenance across the rental: engine oil changes, chain adjustment and tensioning, tyre-pressure checks and normal inspection. On a longer rental this is a real part of the value - a monthly renter is not paying for the bike’s upkeep.
  • Advice and support during opening hours (09:00-21:00) - the shop knows its bikes and can tell you what a noise means.

Not included

  • Rider insurance. The vehicle carries compulsory third-party cover for damage the bike does to others; it does not cover your injuries or your liability beyond its limits. Nguyen Tu does not provide motorbike insurance - customers arrange their own. The insurance article explains the split.
  • Fuel. The bike comes with an agreed fuel level and goes back at the agreed level - the fuel article explains the conventions.
  • Consumables in some situations: inner tubes and tyres can be the renter’s responsibility depending on the situation - a puncture from a nail is a different conversation from a worn tyre the bike arrived with.
  • A fixed delivery fee. Delivery in Hanoi may be available, arranged case by case.
  • Anything the contract does not say. If a term is not written into the agreement, it is not included.

The one question worth asking at handover

“What do I do if something breaks?” Every shop should answer this in one sentence: what the renter handles, what the shop handles, and who to call. The breakdown article covers the standard division.

Rentals vary shop by shop on the edges of this list - helmets, delivery, fuel - but the core is constant: bike, papers, maintenance in; insurance, fuel and consumables out. Confirm the edges when you book.
