PGM-FI - Programmed Fuel Injection - is Honda’s engine-management brand, and in Vietnam’s underbone class it marks the line between old and new. What follows is grounded in what Honda VN actually publishes (retrieved 23 September 2026).

Which models have it (verified)

Honda’s page lists PGM-FI for the Wave RSX. That is the verified claim for the 110-class underbones. The Wave Alpha page does not name a fuel system at all - treat any carburettor claim for it as unverified. The Blade page names its engine Euro 3 without naming its fuel system. This is exactly why our specs stay empty where the manufacturer stays silent.

What injection actually changes

Metering: an ECU reads sensors and doses fuel per combustion cycle, adjusting for temperature and altitude; carburettors meter mechanically by airflow. Cold starts: injection removes the winter choke ritual - relevant to our cold-start guide. Economy and emissions: the Wave RSX’s published 1.56 L/100 km against the Alpha’s 1.72 is a fair example of the injection dividend, though engine tuning shares the credit. Maintenance profile: no carburettor to clean and tune - our carburettor care guide describes the work injection deletes; instead, injectors occasionally need cleaning, as our injector guide covers.

Why it matters in Vietnam

Humidity, winter cold and fuel quality all stress carburettors; injected bikes shrug off the season changes. If you are choosing between the Alpha and RSX, our comparison works through the full trade-off; the RSX’s injection is a big part of why it is the high-mileage pick. Rental note: the price-published Wave class here is a 150,000 VND/day group - contact us to confirm which model you will actually receive.
