Spec sheets list kW and Nm as if everyone knows what they mean. Here is what they actually tell you about a scooter, using only manufacturer-verified figures for Vietnamese-market models (retrieved 23 September 2026).
The two numbers
- Torque (Nm) is the twisting force at the wheel - what shoves you forward when you open the throttle. Peak torque at low rpm (say 5,250-6,000) means urge without revving.
- Power (kW) is how fast that force can be delivered - it determines top speed and how hard the bike pulls at high rpm. Peak power at 8,000+ rpm is a number you visit briefly, not where you commute.
Verified examples and what they predict
| Model | Power | Torque @ rpm | What it predicts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Honda Vision | 6.59 kW | 9.29 Nm @ 6,000 | Easy solo commuting |
| Yamaha Janus | 7.0 kW | 9.6 Nm @ 5,500 | Similar, slightly torquier low down |
| Yamaha FreeGo | 7.0 kW | 9.0 Nm @ 5,500 | Same class, lighter feel |
| Honda Lead | 8.22 kW | 11.7 Nm @ 5,250 | Carries load well |
| Honda Air Blade 160 | 11.2 kW | 14.8 Nm @ 6,000 | Confident two-up and main-road pace |
Reading between the lines
- The rpm matters as much as the number: 11.7 Nm at 5,250 rpm (Lead) feels stronger off the line than 9.29 Nm at 6,000 (Vision) - not just because it is bigger, but because it arrives earlier.
- CVT changes the feel: automatics hold revs where the engine is strongest, so the peak figures shape the whole ride - our CVT explainer covers how.
- Weight divides everything: 7 kW in a 97 kg bike out-feels 8 kW in a 115 kg one with a passenger. Our two-up riding guide covers the loaded case.
The practical test
Numbers rank bikes; your body decides. A five-minute test ride tells you more than any table - and for renters, sitting on the actual bike before committing is free. Contact us to confirm current availability of any model.
