Maintenance is one of the biggest differences between a daily and a monthly rental. A daily bike gets checked by the shop between riders; a monthly bike spends weeks in your hands, so both sides have ongoing responsibilities. Here is how it works.
What the shop covers
Maintenance included in the rental may cover oil changes, chain adjustment and tension, tyre-pressure checks and normal inspection. If something outside that list comes up, contact Nguyen Tu to agree on the right approach before doing anything expensive. Bringing the bike back for a mid-term check is normally straightforward — the shop is open 09:00–21:00 daily.
What stays your responsibility
Consumables such as inner tubes and tyres may be the renter’s responsibility depending on the situation. Day-to-day care is yours too: keeping tyre pressure sensible, watching for chain slack, keeping the bike dry where possible, and not ignoring new noises. If the bike needs work, see outside-repair-shops-rental-motorbike for how a shop visit during a rental is usually handled.
The high-mileage question
If you ride a lot, the owner historically recommends periodic checks around 1,500 km or more of use. That is practical owner guidance, not a manufacturer interval — but it is a reasonable rhythm for a monthly renter who commutes daily. Tell the shop your expected mileage when you set the rental up; high-mileage use is covered in high-mileage-monthly-rental-hanoi.
What not to do
Do not attempt engine work, electrical changes or modifications on a rental bike. Do not keep riding a bike that feels wrong — see rental-motorbike-feels-wrong for why small issues get worse over weeks. And do not let a simple puncture turn into a ruined tyre; punctured-tyre-on-rental-motorbike explains the practical steps.
The one-line version
The shop covers routine maintenance such as oil, chain and inspection; you cover daily care and possibly tubes and tyres — and when in doubt, call the shop before the problem grows.
